The creator of the Egyptian Freemasonry of Egyptian Rite was the Count Alexander of Cagliostro (1738-1796), born in Tunisi. He must not be identified with the mystifier Giuseppe Balsamo (1743-1795), the palermitano recruited by the Jesuits to personify and to throw the disrepute on the true Count of Cagliostro.
Alexander of Cagliostro was initiated to the secrets of the Egyptian Freemasonry by the mysterious Master Altothas in 1776, year of the foundation of the Illuminati Order. And few know that the summit of the Illuminati Order was constituted by six members: four were known (Weishaupt, von Knigge, Goethe, Herder) and two were secrets (Franklin and Cagliostro).
In effects a secret connection existed between the Illuminati Order of Weishaupt and the Egyptian Freemasonry of Cagliostro that was officially founded in 1785, year of the suppression of the Illuminati Order. Besides, Napoleone Bonaparte was initiated by Cagliostro to the Egyptian Freemasonry and the Masonic Rites of Memphis, of Misraïm and of Memphis-Misraïm come down from it.
Between 1810 and 1813, in Naples (Italy), the three brothers Bédarride (Michel, Marc and Joseph) received the Supreme Powers from the Order of Misraïm and they developed the Rite of Misraïm in France. They made it official in Paris in 1814. The Rite was composed of 90 degrees, taken from the Scottish freemasonry, from Martinism and other Masonic currents, and the last four degrees received the name of “Arcana Arcanorum”.
In 1815, in Montauban (France), the Mother Lodge of the Rite of Memphis was constituted with the Grand Master Samuel Honis as head, whom followed, in 1816, Gabriel-Mathieu Marconis. In 1838, Jean Etienne Marconis de Nègre, Gabriel-Mathieu’s son, took over the direction of the Memphis Rite. The Rite, for J. E. Marconis de Nègre, was an ideal continuation of the ancient Mysteries practiced in India and Egypt. The Rite of Memphis reached the 92 and 95 degrees.
In 1881, the Italian general Giuseppe Garibaldi reunified the Rites of Memphis and Misraïm and became the Grand Hierophante of both. After the death of Garibaldi, in 1882, the Rites entered in a “dark” period up to when, in 1890, various lodges of both Rites were federated and the Egyptian Freemasonry of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm appeared. In 1900, the Italian Ferdinando Francesco degli Oddi became Head of the Memphis-Misraïm and was replaced, by the English John Yarker, in 1902. The Rite reached the 97 degrees.
In 1902, the German Theodor Reuss established the Sovereign Shrine of Memphis-Misraïm in Germany. And, in 1913, after Yarker’s death, he became the International Head of the Rite. In 1923, Theodor Reuss passed to the east eternal and the succession was interrupted, except in the O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orientis), a neo-exemplary order founded by Reuss, in 1905, in Germany. In reality, the O.T.O. he had incorporated the Memphis-Misraïm Rite in an abridged version.
In 1909, Theodor Reuss handed over a driving license to the famous martinist Gerard Encauss (Papus). And Encauss’s successors were in 1916 Charles Detré (Tedé), in 1919 Jean Bricaud, in 1934 Constant Chevillon, in 1945 Charles-Henry Dupont and in 1947 Robert Ambelain.
On November 14, 1973, the Italian Francesco Brunelli (Nebo) was appointed by Robert Ambelain in charge of the Memphis-Misraïm Rite for Italy. On November 22th 1973, Francesco Brunelli – Grand Master of the Ancient and Traditional Martinist Order and of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm – was received with all honors in the Grand Orient of Italy, at Palazzo Giustiniani.
In 1981, Francesco Brunelli contacted the well-known Italian initiate Frank G. Ripel to restructure the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm. In 1982, Brunelli passed to the east eternal, but the restructuring of the Rite was already underway, the situation was the following:
99th – International Head of the Eastern Egyptian Order of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm
98th – Unknown Superiors (from the VII to the XIII degree of the Order of the Mystical Rose)
97th – Substitute for the International Head
96th – National Head
1rd-95th – Operative Freemasons (from the I to the VI degree of the Order of the Mystical Rose)
Frank G. Ripel was the head of the Eastern Egyptian Order of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm between 1981 and 1999, at which time he put him into “sleep”.
In March 2003, Frank Ripel - Grand Master of the Order of the Illuminati Knights - had a contact with the Spanish Gabriel López de Rojas, founder and Grand Master of the Order of the Illuminati, of the O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orientalis), 33rd degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, maximum degree of a couple of Egyptian Rites. When Gabriel López de Rojas learned that the Eastern Egyptian Order of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm del Ripel was in “sleep”, he proposed to “awaken him” and these - after a profound reflection - accepted, making him reborn, the May 1st 2003, with the name of Egyptian Freemasonry of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm.
In the M.E.A.P.R.M.M. we find 100 degrees, divided between administrative and operational.
The hundredth degree is of an administrative nature and designates the International Head, appointed ad vitam.
The ninety-ninth degree is of an administrative nature and designates the International Head, appointed ad honorem.
The ninety-eighth degree is of an administrative and operational nature and designates the Unknown Superiors (O.C.I.).
The ninety-seventh degree is of an administrative nature and designates the Substitutes of the International Head, elected by languages.
The ninety-sixth degree is of an administrative nature and designates the National Heads.
The Masonic degrees from one to the ninety-fifth are of an operational character and are related to the Six Alchemical Operations.
1rd-3rd - Postulant (Brown Condition).
4th-33th - Neophita (Black Opus).
34th-42th - Apprentice (Green Phase).
43th-63th - Brother (White Opus).
64th-74th - Master (Yellow Regime).
75th-95th - Secret Master (Red Opus).

General considerations on the hundredth degree.
The hundredth degree represents the top of the Masonic Pyramid. It was conceived in Brussels, in 1934, at the international congress of the F.U.D.O.S.I. (Universal Federation for Leading Orders and Initiative Societies). This rank is known under the following title: “Sovereign Emperor Great Hierophante General of both hemispheres” (Sovereign Maker of the Worlds).
When the Great Hierophante General - Sovereign Emperor Creator of the Worlds - passes to the south eternal, the Unknown Superiors (98th) ask the International Chief ad honorem (99th) to assume the position of the hundredth degree. If he refuses, they must meet to elect a new International Head ad vitam (100th). Should the Unknown Superiors fail to elect a new International Head, the Substitutes of the International Head may meet and ask an Unknown Superior to assume this office.
N.B. - In operative Freemasonry (M.E.A.P.R.M.M.) the candidate faces south and not east, as in speculative Freemasonry; therefore the operative Mason, at the moment of death, will pass to the south eternal and not to the east eternal.
Short Biography on Licio Gelli
In 1980 Licio Gelli, through his constant relationships with the Royal House of Savoia Lucifero Falcone (Minister of the Royal House of Savioa) was honored the Earl title by the King Umberto II (the last King of Italy).
Toward the end of the Seventies the Grand Orient of Italy, appointed Gelli as Venerable Master to direct and give back life to the Masonic Lodge “Propaganda 2” (P2), which was founded in 1895 by Grand Master Lemmi.
In the Eighties the unfounded P2 scandal busted. Subsequently, the Venerable Master was acquitted of the accusations that were brought against him.
In 1996 Commendatore Licio Gelli, for his activity in poetry and writing, proposed candidates from 59 structures - academies, university, Italians and foreigners cultural associations for the Nobel Prize for the Literature.

The end of the International Masonic Union
The U.M.U. (International Masonic Union) represented one of the three external manifestations (the Masonic Nation, the U.M.U. and Singharia) of the real Tres.
On December 12
th 2010 I was invited by various Masonic powers join to M.E.A.P.R.M.M., to accept the hundredth degree of Egyptian Freemasonry. The grade represents the summit of the Masonic Pyramid. It was conceived in Bruxelles, in 1934, at the congress of FU.D.O.S.I. (Universal Federation Managing Orders and Initiatics Societies).
On November 19
th 2012, I agreed to become the International Head of U.M.U. with grade 100, but it was a contradiction because I was already internationally recognized, with this degree.
On May 6
th 2017, I did not stay more to do than delegitimize the U.M.U. because from a formal and historical point of view, the title of 100
th U.M.U degree it had no value.

My tolerance has not served towards Brad Cofield.
Lately I have been forced to warn in his prejudicial attitude towards other eminent brethren. I have received many notes of eminent Masons – from various countries of world – of his misconduct and for these reasons I expel Brad Cofield from M.E.A.P.R.M.M. with the mark of shame. He only showed to want to destroy and not to unite – as Masonic Spirit requires – great spiritual initiatives such as the Birth of WAEO.
